With 5% of all food sold certified organic, biofertilizers are a $1B industry, growing at 40% per year. SymSoil Inc has patented a scalable process to manufacture the most valuable and sought-after type of biofertilizer, with the lowest costs in the industry.
The start-up idea seemed so simple, the founder’s backyard and the surrounding area bordered the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which has a broad diversity of fungi and the exact soil microbe ecosystem described by Dr. Ingham as the Soil Food Web.
How hard to could it be to cultivate the soils and make them available to local organic farmers? After all, a handful of healthy soil has literally billions of species. Across the street from the backyard where SymSoil started was a woodpile, which over a decade had sprouted dozens of different types of mushrooms. There was two feet of redwood litter next to the carport and rotting oak trees on the nearby trails.
At the time of SymSoil's conception, thoughts of a facility with thousands of cubic yards in annual production and hundreds of thousands of dollars-worth of equipment weren't on the radar. SymSoil was not yet connected with the the multiple regulatory agencies with responsibility for protecting the public from runoff water and waste streams, as it is now.
Simply put, SymSoil started as a dream to do its part to help the planet. Before long, SymSoil had a full team setting microbe traps bring the wild, indigenous microbes into a number of compost piles and quickly outgrew the backyard in which the dream had begun.

Pink Energy Group was founded out of the desire to positively impact our environment and communities while sharing the joy of giving back. We aim to provide a viable alternative to organic waste disposal by working alongside municipalities and food producers to convert food waste into a nutrient rich organic soil conditioner.
Pink Energy is focused on the future. After traveling the world, we witnessed first-hand the effects of climate change on the natural environment. The food waste urban communities currently generate contributes substantially to global warming by producing huge quantities of methane, a greenhouse gas that is twenty times worse for the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. After settling in Chicago, we were inspired to start a company that would address the problem by collecting waste and converting it into usable energy, eventually returning it back to the very communities that supplied it.

Our mission is to provide eco-friendly products and systems that affect the world in a positive and beneficial way in the areas of soil and water. The driving force behind our green technologies is to leave behind a better earth than we inherited, thus we are making our innovative, sustainable, agricultural technologies available at the lowest costs possible to assist in eradicating world hunger and providing clean drinking water for people everywhere.
TGT’s mission is to provide eco-friendly products and systems that affect the world in a positive and beneficial way in the areas of soil and water. Two of the three cornerstones of all life.
Terawet was originally founded with the intent of providing a means of reducing world hunger. This would be achieved by increasing food production in areas of the world where insufficient capabilities to produce quality food exist.
Since the availability of water is a key factor in food production, the primary goal was to provide a system of water management, to allow for food growth in areas where water resources are limited.
At present, TGT now offers a complete line of products that promote efficient agricultural water usage, a nano technology for clean drinking water, and innovative bio solutions to increase yields of quality crops.
In 1992, John Peter Abt founded The Terawet Corporation while doing research in the field of super absorbent polymer technologies. Dr. Abt had the intent of utilizing these polymers to better manage water in agricultural systems. Three years of field trials and research culminated into the development of the proprietary TeraGel® crystal.
In 1996, due to the obvious need for increased food production in the developing world, the company embarked on marketing its products globally. In the spring of 1998, the company began its domestic marketing efforts, starting with the mid-western agricultural belt of the United States.
It became apparent that the already existing or long term plant growing market could also benefit from this water saving polymer technology. This conclusion led to the development of the liquid polymers. In 2000, providing existing plant growers with eco-friendly products that would reduce water usage, increase root development, and assist in growing healthy and abundant plants. The goal had been reached to provide eco-friendly products that perform the desired benefits for all growers, while still keeping within the framework of “Uniting Science with Nature.”
In 2008, the company would undergo another transition and embarked on the development of more bio friendly technologies that would help the world over. In 2011, Terawet Ventures, Inc. changed the corporate name to reflect there new and broader engagement, to Terawet Green Technologies (TGT). In 2015, the new and innovative technologies being made available included microbial soil, compost & seed inoculants, a disinfecting drinking water technology, and a colloidal foliar NPK fertilizer.

Our patented warm-air biomass furnace converts raw poultry litter to energy, providing heat to broiler houses (eliminating propane) which improves farm profits by $15,000/yr per broiler house. Furnace sales provide 39% gross margin and the process generates recurring profits from organic fertilizer at 32% gross margin.
Global Re-Fuel is an energy technology-based company focusing on solutions that address environmental issues facing the agriculture industry, while increasing farmers’ margins and improving livestock conditions.
Global Re-Fuel has developed the PLF-500 Reactor System, a patented warm-air biomass furnace that converts raw poultry litter to energy, providing heat to broiler houses and converting raw poultry litter into pathogen-free organic fertilizer.
The PLF-500 Reactor System is emerging technology that helps solve the ever-increasing nutrient overload and runoff problem that is pervasive throughout areas near livestock concentrations, such as the algal blooms in the Chesapeake Bay largely due to poultry farm runoff from the Delmarva Peninsula. The PLF-500 Reactor System has other important benefits as well, including reducing CO2 emissions by more than 70,000 lbs/yr/house, reducing farmers’ operating costs and improving poultry living conditions.
