This new system will be built on the premise of enriching and optimizing our connections, with innovative food production at the center.

Our company is making an effort to design and implement a new modern model of community-focused farming that is based on symmetry, education, optimized local food production & distribution, reduced environmental footprints, and ecological balance. I am working steadily with a fantastic team to incorporate this pragmatic approach.

PittMoss, LLC has developed, produces and sells a revolutionary, next generation growing media that is made from a proprietary blend of recycled/upcycled materials and natural ingredients. The product is a disruptive technology that is superior to all other peat based growing media on the market today and can also be used to accelerate composting, for animal bedding, erosion control and absorption applications.

PittMoss®started as a humble kitchen experiment in 1994 and quickly evolved into founder Mont Handley’s passionate, lifelong project. Soon after graduating from the kitchen to the garage, PittMoss® secured an EPA SBIR grant. This funded critical growth trials, providing the scientific evidence and the foundation for PittMoss® patents.

Further testing by Agronomy and Horticulture researchers at a major university evaluated:

Between 2012 and 2015, PittMoss® went through a proof of concept phase in garages and small greenhouses on nights and weekends. With a perfected formula that replaced traditional growing substrates 100% in many crop trials, PittMoss® sparked the interest of Pittsburgh’s Idea Foundry, an incubator and early stage funder of entrepreneurial businesses. With a little “seed” money and professional mentoring and access to some much-needed resources, PittMoss LLC was on its way.

Sharpshooter was founded with a vision of not only improving people’s well-being but also transforming lives. It started with someone we’ll call John Smith.

John is a veteran from the Canadian armed forces who had served in Afghanistan for 2 years. Like many veterans, he came home with PTSD.

Until Scott Hamilton, the founder of Sharpshooter, also a veteran and John’s friend, couldn’t bear to see John and his family suffer any more.
